The Opportunity:
Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist to join our Dental Department. In this role, you will provide preventive oral care and education, including cleanings, screenings, sealants, and patient education, while supporting the overall dental health of Boston’s diverse communities. This is a great opportunity to use your clinical expertise in a mission-driven, community health setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct oral health, periodontal, and oral cancer screenings
- Perform cleanings, fluoride treatments, scaling, and polishing procedures
- Provide patient education and oral hygiene instructions
- Place sealants, fluoride varnishes, and radiographs
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and support outreach activities
- Assist with sterilization, infection control, and clinical documentation
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling and patient communication
- Provide training to dental hygiene students and outreach staff
- Collaborate with dental providers to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care
Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
- Current Massachusetts Dental Hygienist license in good standing
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred
- Strong communication, patient care, and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and staff
